Vilnius to Host World Forum for Direct Investment for First Time

On 10-11 June 2009, Vilnius will host THE WORLD FORUM for Direct Investment 2009.

The forum, the first of its kind and scale in Lithuania, is hosted by the Lithuanian Development Agency (LDA) in association with Red Hot Locations, a company engaged in producing foreign direct investment events.

Red Hot Locations had negotiated the possibility of hosting this event with several countries. Lithuania has been chosen as a country representing the 'New Europe' region and this region's potential for growth. Vilnius, European Capital of Culture 2009, is a perfect place for such a forum, which is designed to promote foreign direct investment in a specific geographical region and specific economic sectors as well as improve the country's international image," Laura Guobuzaite, Acting Director General, Lithuanian Development Agency, has said.

The forum will be attended by some 200 top-level experts working in the area of foreign investment, heads of international companies, members of chambers and associations of commerce of foreign cities, regions and countries, representatives of real estate development companies, law and consulting firms. Foreign direct investment decision-makers from all over the world are scheduled to discuss factors determining investors' choice as well as competition among countries to attract skilled and inventive labour.

The event will be held in Lithuania within the framework of Investment Promotion Programme 2008-2013 approved by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. In recent years, such forums were held in Amsterdam, Brussels, Bologna and Valencia. This year, it was hosted by London.

10th Bi-Annual Conference on MR and Intermodality Contrast Agent Research
Vilnius, Lithuania; 14-16 June 2006
Hosted by: Peter A. Rinck and Robert N. Muller
Since 1988, EMRF has arranged a series of bi-annual conferences focused on recent developments in magnetic resonance contrast agents. The purpose of these meetings was to allow those interested in the field to get together to present their research in a setting that fosters discussion, collaboration, and advancement in the field. From the beginning, this group was comprised of both university scientists and representatives from industry.
For nearly twenty years, this series of conferences has focused upon cutting-edge progress in contrast agent research and application, aimed at magnetic resonance imaging and intermodality approaches, including any technology that has significant advances in targeted in vivo diagnostics, for example nuclear, optical and ultrasound imaging
.
The conference is organized on the principle of formal scientific exchange during the academic sessions and informal interaction during the rest of the day. Over the years, this has led to the development of new projects and products, often collaborative ones, between industry and academics or between universities.
EMRF's conferences are ongoing projects. Their continuity and success not only depend on the intellectual and financial support of the research branches of industry and the interest and support of academics in the field, but they also require the interest and support of scientists, radiologists, trainees, and other researchers who use, and improve, contrast agents of all kinds.
As always, also in the Lithuanian capital the traditional mood of friendly and open exchange between the industrial and academic communities will be preserved.
The conference will begin with an informal dinner on Wednesday, 14 June, and end in the evening of Friday, 16 June. It will be held at the Radisson SAS Astorija Hotel in Vilnius, a completely renovated Belle Epoque building. This five-star hotel is located in the cultural and historical heart of the old town.

Furthermore, our conference will also be celebrating the 65 th anniversary of Lithuania 's Academy of Science founding. These significant events put an added obligation both on the organizers as on the participants of the conference.
