A small and exceedingly feminine wine bar close the Cathedral, Lola’s interior designers have gone for an upmarket jumble sale feel with a few eccentric touches including personal messages written on stones on the bar and an ancient harmonium parked against the wall. We were the only punters when we visited, and we haven’t heard anything on the grapevine about whether things get better. On the plus side, the girls who work here are pleasant and there’s plenty of excellent wine to keep you drinking for hours if you want to. With yet another addition to an already overflowing wine bar scene, one does wonder how many of them a city can possess before it gets ridiculous.
