The restaurant “Vilniaus Bastėja” is in the Old Town of Vilnius. It is close to the Vilnius city protective wall bastion. Here from comes the name of the restaurant. The building was built in the eighteenth century. For the first time it was mentioned in 1786 in the chronicles of Vilnius city Magistrate as transferred under “ever-lasting control right” for the Monastery of Missioners. In the beginning of the nineteenth century the monks expanded the building. Later on the building was used by the Vilnius City Administration for own purposes.
