Green House at the beginning of XX c. |
|
The historic palace, where Green House can be found, is known since XIV Century. In the second half, Juozas Tiskevicius reconstructed the palace and built the Green House, where various tropical plants were grown. Decorative fish lived in the crystal inner pond and a high fountain gave a special charm to the place. |
| In 1912, Alexander Tiskevicius rebuilt the Green House and made it a part of fancy palace interior, connected to presentation hall. Back then the Green House was one of the biggest among private gardens in Europe.
Unfortunately, later fires and people destroyed the garden and during the war it was turned to a canteen. Later the facilities were used for warehousing, sporting and other purposes.

In 1991 the Green House was transferred to Kretinga Museum. Today 580 kinds of exotic plants are grown on the territory of 693.16 square meters.
