Šventoji – a cosy resort town, old fishermen settlement, and situated 35 km from Klaipėda. The port that operated in Šventoji up to the 18th century successfully competed with other ports of the Baltic Sea. However, the current condition of Šventoji port requires major reconstruction. Restoration of the port would accommodate small leisure boats and yachts, thereby giving a boost to tourism development in Šventoji. The port will also be used by local fishermen; it will have quays for specialized vessels: rescue, oil spillage containment, fire-fighting, marine environment, fish breeding, state border guard service.
