Orvydai farmstead is a unique open-air museum of modern, sacred and mystical arts in Gargždelė, Kretinga district. This farmstead was built by a talented sculptor Kazimieras Vilius Orvydas (1952 - 1992). An offspring of a stonemason, he learned his trade from his father Kazimieras Orvydas who built the farmstead which later became a museum. In the Orvidu Farmstead there are a lot of stones, sculptures, crosses, trunks of old oaks, even an old soviet tank. All this was collected in the course of thirty years. With the beginning of intensive land-reclamation works, Orvydai brought stones form the fields, and Vilius created various compositions and made sculptures out of them.

With time passing when the museum acquired a religious meaning the soviet government tried to close it by various means. The former soviet officials ignored the farmstead and made various obstacles, and only thanks to the efforts of some people it survived. From 1990 this farmstead is well known not only in Lithuania, but also abroad.
