Nature.
The main features include the loop system of the mid-Neris, the rich habitats of rare plants in the lower reaches of the Bražuolė and by the Vepriai group of lakes, the forest communities in the Neris valley, and the spring at Saidžiai. The oak forest in Dūkštos is the largest in Lithuania, and the oaks of Vaigeliškės and Ąžuolų karalienė (The Queen of Oaks) are protected as monuments of nature.
Cultural heritage. One of the oldest systems of settlements and archaeological values in Lithuania lies along the river Neris between Vilnius and Kernavė, and includes the church and cemetery in Dūkštos, Paneriai Park, the castle hills of Karmazinai, Buivydai, Bradeliškės, Velniakampis, Viršupis, Naujoji Rėva, Stirniai and Rėva that are witnesses of the distant past and our forefathers’ epoch, the burial mounds at Karmazina, and the cemeteries at Grabijolai and Gelažiai-Antakalniai. The oak forest in Dūkštos has a mysterious stone with old runic inscriptions. The area of the burial mounds at Karmazinai is the largest in the Vilnius district. The mounds could have been built in the 6–8th centuries. The Karmazinai burial site along with the mounds of Popai, Žemieji Semeniukai, Zabarija, Paalioji, Grabijolai, Sidaroniai and Vepriai comprises a significant part of the park’s cultural heritage. Three burial mounds at Karmazinai have been restored to their former condition.
Museums. The village of Čekoniškės has a display of verbos (bunches of dried plants used on Palm Sunday) of the Vilnius region.
Recreation.Areas for recreation are to be found near the village of Saidžiai and in Verkšnioniai Forest. The oak forest of Dūkštos offers walking trails, some of which are suitable for the disabled. One of the branches, the mythological path, acquaints visitors with the deities of the ancient Balts. Another branch represents a nature path narrating of the biodiversity of the oak forest, and one more branch is devoted to the restoration of this forest. A walk along the trails will allow you to see the changes in the oak forest during its restoration, to learn about the bird, animal and plant life of this place, and, while pausing by a stone marked with signs, to remembers Lithuania’s ancient forests and heathen gods worshipped there. The clear waters of Lake Velniakampis attract holidaymakers in summer. Anglers are sure to find a lot of activity as well. At the restaurant Pušynėlis situated by the Maišiagala – Vievis road visitors can enjoy a splendid view of the Neris valley and a delicious meal.
